For the sandcastle competition
I made a sea turtle with a seaweed shell
Then in the swimming race my little turtle won
And she swam away for lots more ocean fun

For the sandcastle competition
I made a mermaid complete with shelly tail
Then a salty southern swell took her for a ride
My fishy friend she swam off with the tide

For the sandcastle competition
I made a seahorse with eyes of pumice stone
It glared right back at me, shot out to the pearly sea
Calling see you later thank you for setting me
Free yee yee yee yee yee yee
Free yee yee yee yee yee yee

For the sandcastle competition
I made a dolphin with a curvy fin
Then the waves rolled in, swept her clean away
My little Maui dolphin dived under a wave
Way yay yay yay yay yay yave
A way yay yay yay yay yay yave

For the sandcastle competition
I made a pirate ship with a stick for a mast
Crew of tiny pebbles, a wheel of polished glass
With a leaf for a sail, and then they sailed it
Away yay yay yay yay yay yay
Away yay yay yay yay yay yay

And the sandcastle competition
Was very nearly through
What was I to do?

Well they announced the winner
It was Genevieve McSkinner
With her calico cat! but I didn’t give a rat
For my sandcastles were all out in the bay
A mermaid on the rocks, dolphin in the waves
Turtle swimming, seahorse grinning
Pebble pirate crew all singing sandcastle shanties
